Pawnote — Privacy Policy
Pawnote helps you log your cat's daily health, view trends, set medication reminders, and export vet-ready reports. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data Pawnote handles and how.
Summary
- Pawnote is local-first. All your data — cat profiles, log entries, photos, reminders, weight history, vet contacts — is stored only on your device.
- No account required. Pawnote does not collect your name, email, phone number, or device identifiers.
- No analytics, no tracking, no ads. Pawnote does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.
Data Pawnote stores on your device
| Data | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Cat profiles (name, breed, weight, photo, vet name/phone/email, notes) | Multi-cat logging, vet contact | On-device Room database + app-private file storage (photos) |
| Log entries (litter, food, water, vomit, weight, medication, symptom notes, timestamps, optional photos) | Daily health logging and trends | On-device Room database |
| Reminders (title, schedule, enabled state) | Medication/checkup notifications | On-device Room database |
| User preferences (active cat, daily summary time, weight goal, theme) | App settings | On-device DataStore preferences |
| Cached log photos | Display attached photos in logs and PDF exports | App-private file storage (files/photos/) |
| Vet PDF exports | Share with your vet | App-private cache (cache/exports/), shared via Android share sheet only when you tap "Share PDF" |
Pawnote does not transmit any of this data to Dango Dev or any third party.
Backups
Pawnote uses Android's standard Auto Backup feature. When enabled by your device settings, Android backs up your Pawnote database and preferences to your own Google Drive account, encrypted by Google. Photos and PDF exports are excluded from cloud backup to preserve your Drive quota; they are included only in on-device transfers (e.g., setting up a new phone). Dango Dev never sees this backup.
You can disable backup at any time in Android Settings → System → Backup.
Permissions
| Permission | Why Pawnote requests it |
|---|---|
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Show reminder and daily-summary notifications |
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM | Fire reminders at the exact time you set |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Re-arm reminders after your phone restarts |
| Photos (via Android Photo Picker) | Attach photos to log entries and cat profiles. Pawnote receives only the photos you explicitly pick |
Pawnote requests no network access for its own features. The only network use is via the Android share sheet when you choose to share a vet PDF (controlled by you).
Children
Pawnote is intended for adults caring for cats. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Third-party services
Pawnote does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs at this time. If this changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the data-safety form on Google Play will be updated to match.
Your rights and choices
Because all data lives only on your device, you fully control it:
- View anything in the app's History and Profile screens.
- Edit or delete any log entry, cat, reminder, or photo in-app.
- Export your data via the Backup feature in Settings (produces a
.zipyou control). - Erase everything by uninstalling Pawnote (Android removes all app data on uninstall) or via Settings → Apps → Pawnote → Storage → Clear Storage.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the "Effective date" above and post the new version at the same URL. Material changes will be highlighted in the Pawnote release notes on Google Play.
