Pawnote — Privacy Policy
Pawnote helps you log your cat's daily health, view trends, set medication reminders, and export vet-ready reports. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data Pawnote handles and how.
Summary
- Pawnote is local-first. All your data — cat profiles, log entries, photos, reminders, weight history, vet contacts — is stored only on your device.
- No account required. Pawnote does not collect your name, email or phone number.
- Anonymous usage stats and crash reports, your choice. Pawnote sends feature-usage counts and crash reports through Firebase. Never your cats' names, notes, photos or health values. Turn it off any time in Settings → Privacy (EU/EEA/UK/CH: off until you allow it).
- No ads, no advertising ID.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.

Pawnote does not transmit any of this data to Dango Dev or any third party.
Backups
Pawnote uses Android's standard Auto Backup feature. When enabled by your device settings, Android backs up your Pawnote database and preferences to your own Google Drive account, encrypted by Google. Photos and PDF exports are excluded from cloud backup to preserve your Drive quota; they are included only in on-device transfers (e.g., setting up a new phone). Dango Dev never sees this backup.
You can disable backup at any time in Android Settings → System → Backup.

Pawnote's own features work offline. Network access is used only for usage statistics and crash reports (when allowed) and when you choose to share a vet PDF through the Android share sheet.
Children
Pawnote is intended for adults caring for cats. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Usage statistics and crash reports
Starting with version 1.4, Pawnote uses two Google services to learn which features get used and to fix crashes: Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
- What is sent: which screens and features are used (for example "a food note was logged" or "a vet report was exported"), crash reports when something breaks, a random app-instance ID that is not linked to your identity, your device model, Android and app version, and your approximate country.
- What is never sent: your cats' names, notes, photos, weights or any other health value; your name, email or contact details; the advertising ID. Your logs stay on your phone.
- Your choice: in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland nothing is sent until you tap Allow. Everywhere, you can turn crash reports and usage statistics off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
- How long it is kept: usage statistics for up to 14 months; crash reports for 90 days.
- No ads: Pawnote shows no ads, does not use the advertising ID, and turns off Google's ad-personalisation signals.
Google processes this data as our service provider under the Firebase data processing terms and Google's privacy policy. Clearing Pawnote's storage or uninstalling it resets the app-instance ID.
Your rights and choices
Because your logs live only on your device, you fully control them:
- View anything in the app's History and Profile screens.
- Edit or delete any log entry, cat, reminder, or photo in-app.
- Export your data via the Backup feature in Settings (produces a
.zipyou control). - Turn off usage statistics and crash reports in Settings → Privacy.
- Erase everything by uninstalling Pawnote (Android removes all app data on uninstall) or via Settings → Apps → Pawnote → Storage → Clear Storage.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the "Effective date" above and post the new version at the same URL. Material changes will be highlighted in the Pawnote release notes on Google Play.
